FAQ

What is 925 sterling silver?

Sterling silver is 92.5% pure silver mixed with 7.5% other metals, usually copper. Pure silver is too soft to hold a clasp or a stone setting, so this small addition makes the jewelry strong enough to wear every day while keeping the white shine of silver. All Silveous jewelry is made in 925 sterling silver.

Why does silver darken, and how do I bring back the shine?

Silver reacts with sulfur in the air, sweat and some cosmetics, which slowly forms a dark film called tarnish. It is a natural process, not a defect, and it happens faster in humid weather. Light tarnish comes off with a silver polishing cloth. Avoid toothpaste, baking soda and dips, which scratch the surface or strip plating. You can also bring your piece to any of our stores for a complimentary clean and polish.

What is rhodium or 18K gold plating, and will it wear off?

Plating is a thin layer of metal applied over the silver. Rhodium gives white pieces a bright finish and slows down tarnish; 18K gold plating gives gold-tone pieces their warm color. With daily wear, plating gradually softens on areas that rub against skin or clothing, especially on rings and bracelets. Keeping your jewelry away from water and chemicals makes it last much longer, and we offer re-plating when the time comes.

What is cubic zirconia?

Cubic zirconia (CZ) is a lab-created crystal that is hard, clear and very brilliant, and it can be cut into fine shapes that natural gems would make unaffordable. We use high-grade CZ and name it as such on every product page. It is not a diamond, and we never present it as one.

Are your pearls real?

We use two kinds, and the product page always says which one. Freshwater pearls are cultured in mussels, so each one has its own shape and luster. Shell pearls are made from polished mother-of-pearl with a pearl coating, which gives them a perfectly round shape and even color. Both are sensitive to perfume, heat and friction, so put them on last and take them off first.

Is your jewelry suitable for sensitive skin?

Sterling silver with rhodium or gold plating is well tolerated by most people. If you know you react to specific metals, check the materials on the product page or ask us before ordering, and stop wearing a piece if your skin becomes irritated.

How do I find my ring size?

Measure a ring that already fits the right finger, or measure your finger with a strip of paper, then compare with the chart in our Size Guide. If you are between two sizes, choose the larger one.

Can a ring be resized or a chain shortened?

Many plain and lightly set rings can be resized by up to two sizes; rings set with stones all the way around cannot. Necklaces and bracelets can usually be shortened, and many already include an extension chain. Contact us with the product name before ordering and we will confirm what is possible and the cost. Pieces altered at your request cannot be returned.

How should I care for and store my jewelry?

  • Put jewelry on after perfume, makeup and lotion, and take it off before sleeping or exercising.
  • Wipe each piece with a soft, dry cloth after wearing to remove skin oils.
  • Store pieces separately in their anti-tarnish pouch so they do not scratch or tangle.
  • Keep them in a dry place, not in the bathroom.

Can I wear my jewelry in the shower, pool or sea?

We recommend taking it off. Chlorine and salt water discolor silver and wear down plating, and soap leaves a film that dulls stones and pearls.

Which payment methods do you accept?

All available payment methods are shown at checkout before you pay. Card payments are processed by certified payment providers; we never see or store your full card number.

Can I change or cancel my order?

Yes, until the order is handed to the carrier, which usually happens within 1–3 business days. Write to hello@silveous.store as soon as possible with your order number.

When will my order arrive?

Orders leave our studio within 1–3 business days. Delivery takes 1–5 business days within Vietnam and 5–15 business days internationally, depending on the destination. Full details are in our Shipping Policy.

Will I pay customs duties on an international order?

Some countries charge import duties or taxes on arrival. These are set by the destination country, are not included in our prices and are paid by the recipient.

Can I return or exchange an item?

Yes, within 30 days of delivery, as long as the item is unworn and in its original packaging. Some items, such as pierced earrings that have been worn and personalized pieces, cannot be returned. See our Return Policy.

What does the warranty cover?

Every piece has a 12-month warranty against manufacturing defects such as a broken clasp or a stone that comes loose under normal wear. See our Warranty Policy for details.

Is my order ready to give as a gift?

Every order arrives in our signature box with a pouch and care card. Write your message in the order notes at checkout and we will handwrite it on a card. If the parcel goes straight to the recipient, mention that too and we will leave prices out.

Can I get an invoice?

An order confirmation is emailed after every purchase. If you need a VAT invoice for a company in Vietnam, enter the company name, tax code and address in the order notes at checkout, or send them to us on the day of purchase.
